AdSense Earnings: Why You’re Not Making Money (And How to Fix It)
When I first started blogging, I had a very simple expectation.
Write a few posts.
Get some traffic.
Make money from Google AdSense.
That’s it.
But after getting approved, reality hit me pretty hard.
I checked my dashboard every day.
And every day, it showed almost nothing.
$0.03
$0.07
Sometimes even $0
At that point, I started wondering:
“Is AdSense even real?”
If you’re in that situation right now, I completely understand.
Because I went through exactly the same phase.
The First Mistake I Made (And Most People Make)
I thought writing more articles would solve everything.
So I kept writing.
Random topics.
Things I felt like writing.
Some personal thoughts.
But nothing changed.
Looking back now, the problem was very simple:
I wasn’t writing what people were actually searching for.
There’s a huge difference between
- writing what you want
- and writing what people need
And AdSense only works with the second one.
The Day I Realized Traffic Is Everything
At some point, I finally understood something obvious.
No visitors = No money.
It sounds simple, but it changes everything.
When I had around 50–100 visitors a day,
my earnings were basically zero.
Even when I reached a few hundred visitors,
it still didn’t feel like “real money.”
That’s when I realized:
AdSense is a traffic game, not a writing game.
Why Some Blogs Make Money (And Others Don’t)
I started comparing my blog with others.
And one thing stood out immediately.
The blogs making money were not writing random content.
They were writing things like:
- how to save money
- how to make money
- cost of living
- real experiences
Meanwhile, I was writing things like:
- daily thoughts
- general information
- things no one was searching for
That’s when it clicked.
People don’t search for your life. They search for solutions.
Changing My Content Changed Everything
So I changed my approach.
Instead of writing whatever I wanted,
I started writing things like:
- “How I Save Money on Food”
- “Cost of Living in Korea”
- “How I Made My First $100 Online”
Same writing effort.
Completely different results.
Because now, people were actually looking for those topics.
Another Thing No One Talks About (RPM)
Even when I started getting traffic,
my earnings were still lower than expected.
That’s when I learned about RPM.
Basically, not all traffic pays the same.
For example:
- entertainment topics → very low earnings
- money topics → much higher earnings
So even if two blogs have the same traffic,
one can make 5–10 times more money.
That’s why choosing the right topic matters so much.
The Truth About Titles (This Changed My Clicks)
This was another big turning point.
Before:
“Cheap food in Korea”
After:
“How I Eat for $5 a Day in Korea”
Same content.
But the second one gets way more clicks.
Why?
Because it feels real.
It feels specific.
And it promises something clear.
The Part That Most People Give Up On
Time.
This is where most people quit.
For the first few months,
it honestly feels like nothing is happening.
No traffic.
No money.
No progress.
But what I learned is this:
Blogging is slow at the beginning, then suddenly it isn’t.
Around the 3–6 month mark,
things start to move.
But only if you keep going.
What Actually Works (From My Experience)
If I had to start again,
I would keep it very simple.
I wouldn’t try to be perfect.
I would just do this:
- write about money, saving, or real-life problems
- use clear and specific titles
- keep posting consistently
- focus on search-based topics
- be patient
That’s it.
